I have no time to write, as life begins again this morning in earnest. But I have to share this …
.
~
That was my girl yesterday.
Owning the ice.
The place where, in her words, she is free.
She asked to participate in a New Year’s Day exhibition. The first since she’s been back to skating.
The dress was her ‘big’ Christmas gift – made just for her.
It fit the song, she said. It just felt right. Yes, that was the one.
It cost an arm and a leg. And it was worth every penny.
She looked like an angel.
I’ve never been more proud. Not because she looked so beautiful. Not because she skated so well.
I was proud because she worked hard at something she loves. Because she found the thing that makes her feel most like herself and she grabbed it with both hands.
Oh, and the song she chose?
Imagine.
Of course.
Yes, I’m one proud Mama.
You, you may say
I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one
I hope some day you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

I am also one proud Grammy!
Love you,
Mom
WTG Katie!!
She looks beautiful.
She is totally owning that ice. An inspiration to women everywhere to remember that beauty comes just as plentiful, maybe more, in strength and confidence. That’s what makes that picture so great, there is nothing about her that says “sweet” in this shot (not that she isn’t). She looks fierce. I love it.
It is not bragging when it is true to everyone!
Brag away mama, brag away!
Ok, I was already kinda misty-eyed at the photo. The song? Put me over the edge. She is amazing.
I agree… the dress did fit the song well! She’s a very insightful young lady! Brag away Mom… facts aren’t the same as bragging! =)
ditto, ditto, ditto etc. to all of these comments – just beautiful!
She sure looks like an angel. And a champion. Beautiful.
Just beautiful….. On the ice and off! Lucky mama!
She’s gorgeous.
made me tear up a bit. so very, very beautiful.
Katie is an inspiration. She looks beautiful in that picture.
Beautiful!!!
Go Katie!
I still get chills when I think about the video of Katie you posted playing that song on the piano. It was so moving. So glad she got her moment to shine!
She is beautiful. That is the perfect song.
LOVE THIS.
She is STUNNING! Thanks for sharing it.
Like mother, like daughter……Oak trees and acorns.
Love you,
Dad
Happy, deep down, happy and proud and joyous for you and her. Yeah!
She looks just as beautiful on the outside as she is on the inside.
